Today In EG: School Committee, Biz After Hours @ T’s

Tuesday, Nov. 18

School Committee meeting: On the agenda, the panel will vote on a number of coaching appointments and will review the gym rental policy for EG Basketball Association. The meeting takes place in the library at Cole Middle School at 7 p.m.

Land Trust meeting: The panel meets in Council Chambers at Town Hall at 7 p.m. Here’s the agenda.

Cindy-Wood Garden Club meeting: It’s fall greenery time at the monthly meeting of the Cindy-Wood Garden Club. Club members and guests will create small holiday arrangements in coffee mugs to cheer local shut-ins and residents of nursing homes. The workshop begins with refreshments at 9:30 a.m. at the Old Jail, 110 King St. The workshop is free and nonmembers are welcome to attend. Some materials will be provided but attendees are urged to bring greens from their gardens and appropriate mugs to share with others. Attendees can also work on their own holiday arrangements with help from the club’s master gardeners. For more information call Joni Plunkett at 885-2868 or Marcia Pearce at 667-2599.

Business After Hours at T’s: The EG Chamber of Commerce holds its monthly Business After Hours event at T’s in the Benny’s Plaza. 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Members $5. Non-members $10.

Service of Remembrance: Anyone who is grieving knows that the holidays are especially difficult. Christ Church (1025 Main St, East Greenwich) will hold a special service onTuesday, November 18, at 7 p.m. to celebrate the lives of those loved ones who have passed away. There will be candle lighting, song, meditation, prayer and a book of remembrance to sign, followed by a time of fellowship. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Wednesday, Nov. 19

Lunch on the Hill: Turns out there IS such thing as a free lunch, every Wednesday in the dining room at St. Luke’s. Lunch is served for all in need, from 11:15 to 12:15.

EGHS PTG meeting (evening!): If you can’t make PTG meetings during the day, now’s your chance. This month’s EGHS PTG meeting takes place at 6:30 p.m. tonight in the library at EGHS.

Thursday, Nov. 20

Citizens Who Care (CWC) meeting: This group of parents and others usually meets the fourth Thursday of the month to create community-based health and wellness programs for young people. In particular, the group promotes mental health, wellness, civic involvement, social justice and leadership opportunities for young people. In the Community Room at the police station, 176 First Ave. All are welcome. 9:30 a.m.

Friday, Nov. 21

‘The Little Mermaid’: More than 100 Cole Middle School students are working on their version of “The Little Mermaid” – 54 students acting, singing and dancing and another 54 students on the crew, setting up, designing props and sets, doing makeup, and helping with stage management. This junior version runs just over an hour, a perfect length for young theatergoers. Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 4 p.m., in the auditorium at East Greenwich High School. $10 at the door.
